A Kula teenager won his division at a state junior golf tournament held at Wailea Gold Golf Course, earning a spot in an international championship. Several other Maui youth also competed in the three-day event.
- Robert Loree of Kula won the boys 13-14 division at the Hawaii State Junior Golf Association qualifier tournament.
- The tournament was held June 3-5 at Wailea Gold Golf Course with 91 junior golfers from across Hawaii.
- Loree’s victory earned him one of 13 Hawaii spots in the Junior World Championship in San Diego.
- Multiple Maui golfers from Lahaina, Wailuku, and other areas participated across different age divisions.
