The Maui Economic Recovery Commission is hosting a free public event July 17–19 to welcome back 103 displaced Lahaina residents and celebrate community healing. Events at Lahaina Cannery Mall, Campbell Park, and Lahaina United Methodist Church include live entertainment, cultural programs, and a career fair.
- The inaugural Lahaina Homecoming runs July 17–19 at three public venues in Lahaina, with all events free and open to the public.
- Hawaiian Airlines is sponsoring return flights for 103 former Lahaina residents from 20 families across the continental U.S.
- The event is organized by Festivals of Aloha and backed by the Maui County Office of Recovery, Hawaii Community Foundation, and private donors.
- Programming includes live entertainment, local food, cultural demonstrations, community resources, and a career fair.
- The E Hoʻi Mai Competition selected participants by having displaced residents submit videos explaining their ties to Lahaina and desire to return.
