The Wildfires Disaster Case Management Program has shifted from state to county leadership as of August 7, 2026. The transition aims to strengthen local coordination ahead of FEMA’s Temporary Housing Assistance program ending in February 2027.
- Maui County is now leading the Wildfires Disaster Case Management Program, previously run by the Hawaii Department of Human Services since November 2023.
- Current program participants do not need to take any action — services will continue without interruption.
- A key priority for the program’s next phase is helping survivors transition out of FEMA Temporary Housing Assistance, which concludes in February 2027.
- Wildfire survivors not yet enrolled can sign up by calling 211 or emailing WildfiresDCMP@gem.org.
- The state DHS will remain a supporting partner even as county leadership takes the helm.
