Maui Public Art Corps will unveil ‘Perfect Days,’ a collection of four animated short films drawn from Lāhainā community memories, on August 27 at the Lāhainā Think Space in Queen Kaʻahumanu Center. The project stems from a wildfire-recovery storytelling initiative focused on mental health and cultural preservation.
- The free public exhibition opens August 27 and runs through September 10 at Queen Kaʻahumanu Center’s Lāhainā Think Space, with expanded hours August 27–September 7.
- The four animated films were created by artist Richard O’Connor and feature voices and memories from Lāhainā community members across multiple generations.
- The project is part of Hui Moʻolelo: Lāhainā, a storytelling initiative launched after the August 2023 wildfires to support community recovery and mental health.
- Funding came from the Hawaiʻi Community Foundation’s Maui Strong Fund, Maui United Way, and the Maui Recovery Funders Collaborative.
