Following Hurricane Lala, The Salvation Army and local partners have been distributing meals, groceries, and supplies to power-outage-affected communities across Maui, Oʻahu, and Hawaiʻi Island. On Maui, 172 meals were served at four emergency shelters, with grocery gift cards now available through the Kahului Corps.
- Between Aug. 16–21, 2026, The Salvation Army served over 3,600 meals and snacks at distribution hubs and shelters statewide in response to Hurricane Lala.
- On Maui specifically, 172 meals were provided to individuals at four emergency shelters in the days immediately after the storm.
- Grocery gift cards are currently being distributed to Maui residents in need through The Salvation Army’s Kahului Corps.
- Extended power outages have been a primary hardship for affected communities across Maui, Oʻahu, and Hawaiʻi Island.
- Local business and community partners have joined the relief effort to expand meal service capacity and reach vulnerable populations.
