The Hawaii Department of Transportation is conducting road work on Honoapiʻilani and Piʻilani Highways through September 11, causing lane closures at multiple locations. Work includes guardrail replacement, storm drain cleaning, and rockfall clearing, with at least one lane remaining open at most sites.
- Honoapiʻilani Highway (Route 30) will see multiple lane closures between Sept. 8–11, generally from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., at locations in Waikapū, Māʻalaea, Lahaina, and Honokōhau.
- Lahaina-area closures cover several stretches near Hōkiokio Place, Prison Street, and Lahainaluna Road for guardrail replacement work.
- Near Honokōhau (mile markers 35.3–36.1), a single lane closure runs 7 a.m.–3 p.m. for rockfall clearing and slope stabilization; traffic will alternate through the open lane.
- A 24/7 shoulder closure on Piʻilani Highway (Route 31) near Kīhei mile marker 2 remains in effect indefinitely for a new intersection serving a residential subdivision.
- No closures are scheduled for Labor Day (Sept. 7), and all work is weather-permitting; schedules may change without notice.
