Maui County Council Member Tom Cook will host a public town hall on September 30 in Kīhei covering storm recovery, road improvements, flood mitigation, and updates on the South Maui Community Plan. The meeting takes place at 6 p.m. at the Malcolm Center.
- The Sept. 30 town hall will address recovery from Hurricane Lowell and the March Kona Low storms, including flood mitigation efforts.
- Updates on the North-South Collector Road project and recycled wastewater (R-1) use will also be discussed.
- The county committee has begun work on Bill 108 (2026) to adopt the South Maui Community Plan, the first comprehensive update to the Kīhei-Mākena land-use framework since 1998.
- The 20-year community plan covers growth, land use, and policies for the South Maui region — potentially affecting property development and zoning.
