A Lahainaluna High graduate used a University of Hawaii wildfire scholarship to complete a diesel mechanics program and plans to return to help rebuild his community. The scholarship program covers two years at UH community colleges for all affected students.

- Troy Branco-Liu became the first in his family to graduate college through the wildfire scholarship program.

- Branco-Liu completed Hawaii Community College’s Diesel Mechanics program and has a job lined up back home.
- He plans to use his new skills to help with Lahaina’s rebuilding efforts.
