Hawaiian Airlines is introducing three new Moana-themed aircraft this summer as the airline continues integrating with Alaska Airlines following their merger. The Disney collaboration comes as Hawaiian’s traditional branding elements have been retired or changed.
- Three Moana-themed planes are rolling out across Hawaiian’s network including Airbus A321neo, A330, and Boeing 717 aircraft.
- The airline has retired its ‘HA’ code and ‘Hawaiian’ callsign, with flight numbers now using the ‘AS’ prefix.
- About 250 Hawaiian flight attendants were relocated to Seattle to work Alaska-branded long-haul flights.
- Free economy meals have been eliminated and traditional Hawaiian cultural elements like leis have been reduced on Alaska-branded flights.
- The new planes will serve routes from Hawaii to the U.S. West Coast, Tahiti, Cook Islands, and neighbor islands.
