Maui County has completed repairs to approximately 1,450 feet of sidewalk and 700 feet of railing along Front Street in Lahaina, with a public blessing ceremony scheduled for July 1, 2026. The project is part of ongoing efforts to restore commercial activity to Lahaina town following the 2023 wildfire.
- The Front Street Railing and Walkway Project is complete, covering the makai side from Lahainaluna Road to Dickenson Street with new sidewalk, railing, lighting, benches, and landscaping.
- A public blessing ceremony will be held July 1, 2026, from 3–4 p.m. in the 700 block of Front Street; attendees should park at the Lahaina Aquatic Center and use the shuttle starting at 1:30 p.m.
- The 700 block of Front Street remains closed to through traffic due to ongoing road improvements in the area.
- County officials framed the project as a step toward reopening businesses and restoring jobs in Lahaina’s commercial core.
- This project follows previously completed work including seawall repair and sidewalk restoration in the 900 block of Front Street.
