Maui County has announced two separate scheduled waterline repair projects affecting roads and water service in Makawao and Wailuku during the nights of July 6–8, 2026. Both notices were issued by Maui County on July 2 and warn of brief water service interruptions and restricted vehicle access during overnight work windows.
- Central Avenue in Wailuku (between Nani Street and E. Vineyard Street) will be fully closed to through traffic — local traffic and emergency vehicles only — from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. on both Monday July 6 and Tuesday July 7 nights (Maui County)
- Makawao Avenue between Baldwin Avenue and Makani Road will have a partial closure (local traffic only) from 10 p.m. Tuesday July 7 through 5 a.m. Wednesday July 8 (Maui County)
- Through traffic on Makawao Avenue will be detoured via Olinda Road, Hanamu Road, Meha Road, and Kealaloa Avenue (Maui County)
- Brief interruptions to water service may occur at both locations during the work periods
- Residents and guests can report water emergencies or get post-restoration guidance at mauicounty.gov or via the county’s 24/7 Water Service Helpline
