Multiple sources report that Maui County’s Office of Recovery is hosting a public open house on July 15, 2026, connecting wildfire-displaced homeowners with the contractor selected for the Hoʻokumu Hou reconstruction program. The event is designed to help eligible homeowners understand their rebuilding options, regardless of where they are in the recovery process.
- The ‘Meet Our General Contractor’ open house runs 5–7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15, at the Lahaina Resource Center, 325 Keawe St., Suite B102, Lahaina Gateway
- Goodfellow Bros. Inc. is the general contractor selected to build homes through the county’s Hoʻokumu Hou Single-Family Homeowner Reconstruction Program
- Sample home designs, 3D models, renderings, and floor plans will be on display, and attendees can speak directly with Goodfellow Bros. and program staff
- The program provides up to $1.2 million in assistance to rebuild primary residences destroyed in the 2023 Maui wildfires
- Eligibility extends to households earning up to 140% of the Area Median Income (AMI), and applications remain open through August 2026
- Homeowners who have already received FEMA assistance, insurance payouts, or other disaster recovery funding may still qualify
- Attendees who have obtained building permits or experienced income changes since the disaster are also encouraged to attend
- The program is funded through a Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (Maui Now)
