Multiple sources report that Lahaina’s Front Street will reopen to vehicular traffic on August 1, 2026, following the completion of post-wildfire repairs and improvements announced by the Maui County Office of Recovery. The reopening coincides with the Lahaina Homecoming event, a three-day community celebration held July 17–19 that brought more than 100 displaced residents back to town ahead of the official road opening.
- Front Street will reopen from Pāpalaua Street to Shaw Street on August 1, 2026, with no regularly scheduled access restrictions; Dickenson Street and Prison Street will also reopen.
- Completed infrastructure work includes removal of wildfire debris and offshore pilings, seawall and sidewalk repairs, new railings and trees on the makai side, fencing around restricted areas, and road paving and striping.
- Businesses including ʻUlu o Lele Marketplace, Kimo’s restaurant, and more than a dozen other establishments will resume commercial activity as part of the reopening.
- Market Street, Papelekane Street, and Mokuhinia Place will remain closed while ongoing work, including the state’s dredging project at Lahaina Harbor, continues. (KITV)
