The County of Maui will host the annual Kuhinia Maui community gathering on August 8, 2026, at Lahaina United Methodist Church to commemorate the third anniversary of the 2023 wildfires. The free all-day event includes music, food, wellness activities, and a tribute ceremony at 5:30 p.m.
- The free event runs 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Aug. 8 at 988 Front St. in Lahaina, with parking available at adjacent Lahaina Surf lots.
- A formal tribute at 5:30 p.m. will honor the 102 lives lost and two still unaccounted for, including a presentation of 1,000 origami cranes from students in Osaka, Japan.
- Activities include lei making, lomi lomi and acupuncture wellness care, live music, and food — all at no cost to attendees.
- Attendees are encouraged to RSVP at kuhiniamaui.org to assist organizers with meal planning.
- The regularly scheduled monthly Lahaina Community Meeting is moved to Aug. 12 at Lahaina Intermediate School cafeteria due to the event.
