Multiple sources report that the Hawaiʻi Tourism Authority has announced the organizations chosen for its 2026 Community Tourism Collaboratives on Maui. The two cohort-based programs, running July through October 2026, aim to strengthen community-led tourism through cultural preservation, environmental stewardship, and authentic visitor experiences. Selected nonprofits and businesses will receive workshops, training, and business development support, culminating in participation at the 2026 Hawaiʻi Tourism Conference in September.
- HTA selected Maui-based organizations for two distinct programs: the Community Stewardship Collaborative and the Regenerative Experiences Collaborative
- The Community Stewardship program supports nonprofits caring for natural or cultural resources, helping them expand stewardship through voluntourism, managed site access, and educational visitor engagement
- The Regenerative Experiences program supports businesses and nonprofits developing visitor experiences rooted in place, culture, and community, including help refining concepts, building business plans, and piloting or expanding offerings
- Both programs run July through October 2026 and include structured workshops, in-person training, and attendance at the 2026 Hawaiʻi Tourism Conference in September
