The Hawaii Tourism Authority has chosen 12 Maui organizations to participate in its 2026 Community Tourism Collaboratives, a program running July through October focused on sustainable visitor experiences and resource stewardship. Participants will receive workshops, training, and tools to develop community-centered tourism offerings.
- Twelve Maui organizations were selected across two tracks: Community Stewardship (nonprofits managing natural/cultural sites) and Regenerative Experiences (businesses building place-based visitor offerings).
- The program runs July through October and includes workshops, in-person training, and participation in HTA’s 2026 Hawaii Tourism Conference in September.
- Community Stewardship participants include groups managing Twin Falls, an ethnobotanic garden in Kahului, and cultural sites near Wailuku.
- The initiative is designed to help organizations grow capacity, manage visitor access, and strengthen connections between residents, visitors, and local places.
