Four animated short films capturing Lahaina community memories will be unveiled on August 27 at Queen Kaʻahumanu Center as part of ongoing cultural recovery efforts following the 2023 wildfires. The exhibit runs through September before traveling to New York University.
- The ‘Perfect Days’ film collection features nine Lahaina storytellers sharing family traditions and community memories lost in the 2023 wildfires.
- The Lahaina Think Space installation at Queen Kaʻahumanu Center runs through September, offering individual screens with headphones for visitors.
- A participatory mural project led by Maui artist Jana Ireijo will also be on display at the space during August and September.
- The project is backed by the Maui Recovery Funders Collaborative and was developed through the Lahaina Restoration Foundation’s community storytelling initiative.
- The traveling installation moves to New York University in September 2026, coinciding with the 25th anniversary of 9/11.
