Hawaii’s Department of Transportation is mobilizing crews statewide ahead of Tropical Storm Moke, clearing drainage and debris from roads and bridges. On Maui, Crater Road remains closed through early next week and airports are on standby.
- Crater Road (Route 378) remains closed to the public from milepost 2.5 and is expected to reopen early next week.
- DOT crews have cleared debris from bridges along Hāna Highway and within Ukumehame Stream on Honoapi’ilani Highway in West Maui.
- Airports on Maui — including Kahului, Hāna, and Kapalua — have completed pre-storm checklists and are on standby.
- Molokaʻi crews inspected and cleared drainage in low-lying areas ahead of anticipated heavy rainfall.
- The only outstanding storm damage from prior Hurricane Lala at a Maui-district airport is the Lāna’i Terminal roof, which has been temporarily repaired.
