The Maui County Council’s planning committee is kicking off its review of the draft South Maui Community Plan with site visits and a public evening meeting in Kīhei on Monday. The plan will shape future land use, housing, transportation, and infrastructure decisions for South Maui.
- Site inspections are scheduled for 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. along Kūlanihākoʻi Road and East Waipuʻilani Road, focusing on proposed growth areas and a new collector road.
- A public evening meeting at the Kīhei Community Center begins at 5 p.m. and will include a planning department overview and in-person public testimony.
- The plan will guide long-term decisions on housing, land use, transportation, and infrastructure in South Maui.
- The meeting will be livestreamed on Akakū Channel 53, MauiCounty.us, and the council’s Facebook and YouTube pages.
- Additional committee deliberations will move to the Council Chamber in the coming weeks.
