The Hawaii Symphony Orchestra will perform a free public concert at Royal Lahaina Resort on September 19, featuring Hawaiian guest artists in an event billed as a tribute to Lahaina and its community. It marks the orchestra’s first Maui appearance in over a decade.
- The free ‘Mele for Maui’ concert takes place Saturday, Sept. 19 at the golf course adjacent to Royal Lahaina Resort & Bungalows.
- Guest artists include well-known Hawaiian musicians Keola Beamer, Amy Hānaiali’i, John Cruz, Raiatea Helm, Jeff Peterson, and Kala’e Camarillo.
- The event is supported by in-kind donations from Royal Lahaina Resort, Hawaiʻi Stage, and Hawaiian Airlines, which is flying the 60+ musicians and their instruments to Maui.
- Seating is available for thousands of attendees, making it a significant draw for both residents and visitors in the area.
- HSO conductor Dane Lam described the concert as the orchestra’s gift to Lahaina and hopes it marks the beginning of regular Neighbor Island touring.
