A crew member from the landmark 1976 Hōkūleʻa voyage to Tahiti will give a free public talk at the Ritz-Carlton Maui, Kapalua on Saturday as part of the Celebration of the Arts festival. The event marks the 50th anniversary of the historic voyage.
- Dr. Ben Young, who sailed on the 1976 Hōkūleʻa return voyage from Tahiti, will speak at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the Ritz-Carlton Maui, Kapalua.
- The talk is free to the public and is part of the Celebration of the Arts event at the Kapalua resort.
- The event commemorates the 50th anniversary of Hōkūleʻa’s pioneering 2,700-mile journey from Maui to Tahiti using traditional Polynesian navigation.
