- A public hybrid presentation on July 9 at Maui Ocean Center Sphere will debut nature-based coastal resilience designs for the Olowalu-Ukumehame shoreline.
- The state plans to begin realigning Honoapiilani Highway inland starting in 2027, which is driving the push for long-term coastal and land-use planning along that corridor.
- Designs were developed over the past year using community input, climate science, and traditional ecological knowledge.
- The event runs from 5:30–6 p.m. (doors) with presentations, Q&A, and a reception; virtual attendance is also available via registration.
- The project focuses on protecting the Olowalu reef and restoring coastal ecosystems while addressing infrastructure and cultural priorities.
